July 17-21, 9:00 a.m. to noon: Vacation Bible School

Imagine a world where curious kids become hands-on inventors who discover they are lovingly crafted by God. Their creativity is sparked by interaction with amazing decorations and experiences. This year our Vacation Bible School will be the MAKER FUN FACTORY - Created by God...Built for a purpose! Registration forms are available in the church office, or from Peggy Joy Dile.

Sunday, July 23: Front Door Ministry Lunch Packing

Please help Front Door Ministry to pack 250 lunches for hungry people! We'll be working in the CA Room after the regular Sunday worship service. You can also help by donating any of the following supplies:

  • Tuna, chicken, or ham salad with cracker packages (come individually in tuna section of store; usually are $1 but can be $1.29 or more) OR small cans of Vienna sausages (Smart and Final and other places) $.50 can or less in bulk
  • BIG boxes of Ritz or similar crackers we can make into smaller snack bag sizes
  • Applesauce or fruit cups in individual containers (available everywhere in packs of 6 or 8 small cases of 8 packs)
  • Cereal/power/snack bars (come individually or in boxes of 8-12) (nothing crunchy or sticky/gooey as many of the population we serve have dental issues)
  • Snack packages of cookies
  • Boxes of raisins (come in groups of 6 or 8)
  • Peanut butter or cheese and cracker packages (come in packages of 8-12)
  • Cases of bottled water (instead of juice boxes) $3-$4 per cases of 24 - NO juice boxes.
  • Boxes of plastic zip lock type sandwich bags

Saturday, July 29, 4:00 to 8:00 p.m.: Pool Party

Whether you swim or not, spend a little time with us poolside at this year's All-Church Pool Party at the home of Kimberly Meek and Ted Pierce. Bring something to cook for yourself on the barbecue, and something to share at the potluck table. Drinks and tableware are provided. Bring your own chair, a jacket to wear when it gets cool, and your guitar if you like to strum. The party is limited to 40 people, so sign up on Sunday's "Prayer & Presence" card.

July 29 - August 5: Mexico Mission Trip

Again this year, participants from AHUMC, WGUMC and CPUMC will be partnering with the non-profit Amor Ministries, to spend four days building two homes for working families in and around Tijuana. To do this, we are asking for your help. Your donation will support transportation costs, supplies for the houses, and sustenance of our volunteers. You can donate by writing a check to AHUMC with "Mexico Mission" in the comment line, or you can donate online at http://missiontrip.wgumc.org.

Tuesday, August 1: National Night Out

On August 1, our church hosts our neighborhood for the annual National Night Out. We provide a family faire atmosphere, with food, games, educational booths, cake walks, and other activities. We give backpacks and school supplies to the children who live in the low-income Hoffman-Via Monte area. You can help provide this fun happening with financial donations to help purchase the backpacks, helping to stuff the backpacks with school supplies on a Sunday before the event, or joining in the evening of August 1 to set up and staff the event. Sign in at the volunteer table at 4:00 p.m., and we will let you know where help is needed.

Saturday August 12: Yard Sale

Get a jump on cleaning out those closets and the garage for good things that you are no longer using. Someone else can use them and the church will benefit with a little extra income. Everybody wins! Plan on delivering your treasures on Thursday and Friday, August 10 and 11, and stay to help sort. Questions? Call Junetta McKewan or Susan Revers.
