Sunday morning services at AHUMC resume July 4, 2021

Dear AHUMC friends and family,
I think we are all trying to continually interpret the updates upon updates for the health and safety of our church and community.
I think we are all seeking the “best practices” of following John Wesley’s (Methodist “founder”) 3 rules to… 1) do no harm, 2) do good, and 3) stay in love with God.
As we all know, the good news is, the vaccine works! However, there are those who cannot be vaccinated, those who will not be vaccinated, and those for whom the vaccine does not work because of particular health treatments. Also, children cannot yet be vaccinated.
Also, as we all know, today, our Santa Clara County “remains in the Yellow Tier and plans to adhere to the state’s reopening guidelines set to begin on June 15, when most businesses may return to usual operations, with certain caveats…. (For example), fully vaccinated individuals still will need to wear masks in hospitals, prisons, homeless shelters, during travel and while indoors at K-12 schools.”
At present, our church “reopening” for in-person meetings will include masking, social distancing, temperature/health questions, and provisions for contact tracing. At present, we will worship with music, but will refrain from singing. We will continue to do lots of cleaning/wiping down of “high touch” areas. At present, we are still planning to begin meeting in the fellowship hall for concerns about air circulation.
Here is a somewhat amended schedule for us:
Sunday, June 27, 1 p.m.:  We will have a shorter audio service available. We will encourage everyone to attend the online, Conference-wide worship service, 10 a.m.-noon. And, we will have a “dry-run” service. This service is open only for those who are involved in the service and who will be working on the cleaning/setting up of our fellowship hall.
Sunday, July 4, 10 a.m.:  As all goes well with enough volunteers on June 27th, we will have our first “in-person” worship service. The week previous to this service, we will let you know how to make a reservation for the service. And, we will let you know of any new health/safety updates we will be following. Also, at this service, we will try to offer a “livestream” or “real-time” video of the service, for those of you who cannot attend.
Thanks for your continued faithfulness throughout these many, many months and updates upon updates, Pastor Mariellen
